Triple glazed sliding patio doors
Sliding doors give you the most glass of any door, which also means the most heat loss through glass. Triple glazing makes a large slider far more comfortable in winter. Because each panel is heavy, the door system has to be rated for the panel weight; we specify that on the quote.

Panel weight and rollers
A 1.5 m by 2.1 m triple glazed panel weighs roughly 95 kg in glass alone. That is why triple glazed sliders use rollers or lift-and-slide gear rated for the weight. Under-rated gear is what makes heavy sliders stiff to open.
Heat loss through big glass
Doors more than 60% glazed must meet 1.4 W/m²K or a door set energy rating of band C in England. Triple glazed sliders typically beat that comfortably, and the warmer inner pane makes the space near the door usable in winter.

Questions about sliding patio doors
How much does a triple glazed sliding door cost?
Our guide starts at £1,895 fitted for a 1.8 m uPVC slider and £3,295 for a 3 m aluminium slider, inc VAT. UK quotes for triple uPVC sliders run from about £1,600 to £2,600.
Are triple glazed sliding doors hard to open?
Not with correctly rated rollers. Lift-and-slide gear makes even very large panels easy to move.
Can I have a level threshold?
Low thresholds are available; they need a suitable drainage detail outside, which we check on survey.
Do sliding doors need safety glass?
Yes, all door glass must be safety glass. Triple units in sliders are toughened or laminated.
