Doors
Triple glazed composite front doors
The door leaf of a good composite door already insulates well; the glass panels are the weak spot. Triple glazed panels warm up the hallway and cut draughts around the door. Most composite doors are tested to the PAS 24 security standard, and we specify the lock and cylinder on your quote.

Summary
A composite front door has a solid insulated core, usually timber or foam, under a tough glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) skin, with a multi-point lock. Triple glazed composite doors use three-pane units in the glazed panels and side lights, which is where a door loses most heat.

Doors and Building Regulations
In England, a replacement external door must achieve a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or meet a door set energy rating (band B for doors up to 60% glazed, band C for more heavily glazed doors). Composite doors with triple glazed panels sit comfortably inside that. Scotland and Northern Ireland use their own figures, shown on the regulations guide.
Security
We specify doorsets tested to PAS 24 with anti-snap cylinders. The exact lock, cylinder and hinge spec is written on your quote.
Building Regulations by nation
| Nation | Replacement doors | Sign-off |
|---|---|---|
| England | 1.4 W/m²K, or a door set energy rating of band C (more than 60% glazed) or band B (other doors) | Competent person scheme or building control |
| Wales | 1.4 W/m²K, or a door set energy rating of band C (more than 60% glazed) or band B (other doors) | Competent person scheme or building control |
| Scotland | 1.6 W/m²K | No building warrant for a straight replacement; must meet the standards |
| Northern Ireland | 1.8 W/m²K | No building notice for a straight replacement; must comply |

Questions about composite front doors
How much does a triple glazed composite door cost?
Our guide starts at £1,395 fitted for a single door and £1,995 with one side panel, inc VAT. UK quotes range from about £800 for a basic door to £3,000 with side panels.
Is triple glazing worth it in a front door?
The glass is the weakest part of a composite door for heat loss, so triple glazing the panels helps most when the door has large glazed areas or side panels.
Are composite doors secure?
Good ones are tested to PAS 24 and fitted with anti-snap cylinders. We specify both.
Can I have a different colour inside?
Yes, most ranges offer one colour outside and white or another colour inside.
