Triple glazed tilt and turn windows
Tilt and turn windows suit flats, high windows and rooms where you want to clean the outside of the glass from inside. Because the sash opens inwards, the frame and hardware carry the weight on a heavy-duty hinge system, which pairs well with triple glass.

Summary
A tilt and turn window opens inwards in two ways: tilted at the top for secure ventilation, or swung fully open like a door for cleaning and escape. It is the standard style across much of Europe, where triple glazing is common, so the hardware is designed for heavy units.

Ventilation without leaving a window wide open
The tilt position opens a gap at the top of the sash, which lets air in while the window stays locked to the frame along the bottom and sides. It is useful for bedrooms and bathrooms, and on upper floors.
Clearance inside the room
The sash swings into the room when turned, so it needs a clear space in front of it. We check curtains, blinds, radiators and furniture on survey.

Questions about tilt and turn windows
Are tilt and turn windows secure?
Yes. They lock at several points around the sash, and the tilt position stays locked along the sides.
Are tilt and turn windows more expensive?
Our guide puts them about a quarter above a standard casement of the same size, in line with UK market figures.
Can I clean the outside from inside?
Yes. Turned fully open, both faces of the glass can be cleaned from inside the room.
Are they suitable as fire escape windows?
Turned fully open, they give a large clear opening, which often meets escape requirements. We check the size on survey.
