Triple glazed fixed and picture windows in Newtown
We arrange surveys and fitting of triple glazed fixed and picture windows in Newtown and the SY16 area, with a written, fixed quote after a free survey.
Large fixed panes in triple glazing, with the lift planned. A fixed or picture window does not open; it is one large pane in a slim frame, used to frame a view or bring in light.
Winter light and glass choice in Newtown
Winter days in Newtown are short: about 7 h 39 min of daylight on 21 December, with the sun peaking near 14°. That low angle reaches deep into south-facing rooms, so we match the glass to each elevation rather than using one spec for the whole house.

Rules for fixed and picture windows in Wales
The rules for replacement windows in Wales are set by Approved Document L for Wales (2022 edition, with 2024 amendments): 1.4 W/m²K, or a Window Energy Rating of band B or better. As in England, replacement windows are a controlled fitting: a competent person scheme installer self-certifies the work, or building control approves it.
Before ordering: Householder permitted development rules do not cover flats, and councils can remove rights with Article 4 directions. Listed buildings need listed building consent. Check with your council before changing the style or material.
How it works
The surveyor measures every opening, checks ventilation, escape windows and safety-glass zones, and talks through styles. Your written quote lists each item with its glass build-up and U-value, and the price is fixed for that specification.
- Free survey and a written quote fixed for the specification
- Glass build-up and whole-window U-value on every quote
- Written handover pack at the end of the job
- Guarantees on frames, units and fitting in writing
Questions from Newtown
Can a fixed window be the escape window?
No. An escape window must open. We keep or add an opening window where one is needed.
Is a picture window worth triple glazing?
Big panes lose a lot of heat and can feel cold to sit near. Triple glazing keeps the inner pane warmer, which makes the space by the window more comfortable.
How long does it take to get triple glazed fixed and picture windows fitted in Newtown?
After the survey, typical manufacture time is 4 to 8 weeks, and most homes are fitted in 1 to 4 days.
Do you fit triple glazed fixed and picture windows in Newtown?
Yes. We arrange surveys and fitting in Newtown and across Powys. Send your postcode and the windows or doors you want replaced, and we will book a free survey.
