Passivhaus and EnerPHit windows in Aberdeen
Homes in Aberdeen can have Passivhaus and EnerPHit windows supplied and fitted, with surveys arranged across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire including AB10.

The windows and installation detail low-energy builds depend on. Passivhaus is a building standard from the Passive House Institute; EnerPHit is its version for retrofits.
Winter light and glass choice in Aberdeen
By midsummer Aberdeen has about 17 h 56 min of daylight, but in December only around 6 h 40 min, with the noon sun at about 9°. Triple glazing keeps more heat in during those long, dark months; big south and west windows may suit solar-control glass for summer.

Rules for Passivhaus and EnerPHit in Scotland
Scotland requires replacement windows to achieve 1.6 W/m²K, which good triple glazing passes comfortably. Replacing a window or door, frame and all, does not need a building warrant, but the work must still meet the building standards.
Planning: Since May 2024, replacement windows on houses are widely permitted development, including in many conservation areas, with front elevations expected to match the existing closely; your council tells you if prior notification applies. Flats outside conservation areas generally need permission only if the opening size changes. Listed buildings need listed building consent.
How it works
After the free survey you get a written quote naming the frame system, the glass build-up and the whole-window U-value for every item. Windows are made to order, then fitted, sealed and made good, one opening at a time.
