What the market charges

Published UK figures for 2025 and 2026 put triple glazed uPVC windows at about £400 to £1,300 for small windows, £550 to £1,500 for medium and £950 to £2,000 for large, with Checkatrade’s figures at the top of that range. A 3-bed semi typically costs £6,500 to £11,000 for windows only. Our guide prices sit within those ranges.

What pushes the price up

  • Colour and woodgrain finishes
  • Flush sashes, sashes and tilt and turn openings
  • Acoustic or laminated security glass
  • Bays that need structural support
  • Scaffolding for upper floors that ladders or towers cannot reach
  • Making good damaged reveals or replacing rotten sub-cills

How to compare quotes

Ask every installer for the same four things: the unit build-up (for example 4-16-4-16-4 argon, two low-e panes), the whole-window U-value, the frame system, and how Building Regulations sign-off is handled. A cheap triple quote with a thin 28 mm unit is not the same product.

VAT and grants

Replacement windows, doors and glazing in existing homes are standard-rated for VAT at 20%. HMRC’s 0% rate for energy-saving materials (Notice 708/6, which runs to 31 March 2027) does not cover double or triple glazing. Supply and fitting by a VAT-registered contractor in the construction of a new home is normally zero-rated (VAT Notice 708), and 5% can apply to some conversions and to homes empty for two years or more. Grants for triple glazing are rare; see our regulations and funding guide.
