Triple glazed fixed and picture windows in Newtownards
Triple glazed fixed and picture windows for homes in Newtownards: measured on a free survey, made to order and fitted by installation teams working for us across County Down.
Frame a view without a cold glass wall. A fixed or picture window does not open; it is one large pane in a slim frame, used to frame a view or bring in light.
Winter light and glass choice in Newtownards
Winter days in Newtownards are short: about 7 h 15 min of daylight on 21 December, with the sun peaking near 12°. That low angle reaches deep into south-facing rooms, so we match the glass to each elevation rather than using one spec for the whole house.

Rules for fixed and picture windows in Northern Ireland
The rules for replacement windows in Northern Ireland are set by Technical Booklet F1 (2022): 1.6 W/m²K, or a Window Energy Rating of band C or better. Replacing windows or external doors does not need full plans or a building notice, but the work must still comply; enlarging an opening or other structural change needs building control approval.
Before ordering: Check with your council planning office before changing the style, material or size of windows or doors, and always for listed buildings, conservation areas and flats.
How it works
You will know exactly what you are buying: the quote states the unit build-up, frame, finish, fitting work and how Building Regulations compliance is handled. On fitting day each opening is replaced and closed up before the team moves on.
- Every opening measured, including escape and vent needs
- Frames rated for the weight of triple glass
- Old windows removed and taken away
- Each opening closed up the same day
Questions from Newtownards
Is a picture window worth triple glazing?
Big panes lose a lot of heat and can feel cold to sit near. Triple glazing keeps the inner pane warmer, which makes the space by the window more comfortable.
Do fixed windows need trickle vents?
The room still needs ventilation. If the fixed window replaces one with vents, ventilation must be provided another way, for example a vented frame or an adjacent opener.
Do you fit triple glazed fixed and picture windows in Newtownards?
Yes. We arrange surveys and fitting in Newtownards and across County Down. Send your postcode and the windows or doors you want replaced, and we will book a free survey.
Do I need permission for triple glazed fixed and picture windows in Newtownards?
In Northern Ireland, check with your council planning office before changing the style, material or size of windows, and always for listed buildings and flats. Check whether your street is in a conservation area or covered by an Article 4 direction before changing the style.
