Triple glazed fixed and picture windows in Sandhurst
From the first measure to the handover pack, we handle triple glazed fixed and picture windows for homes in Sandhurst and the rest of Berkshire.
Large fixed panes in triple glazing, with the lift planned. A fixed or picture window does not open; it is one large pane in a slim frame, used to frame a view or bring in light.
Winter light and glass choice in Sandhurst
By midsummer Sandhurst has about 16 h 37 min of daylight, but in December only around 7 h 51 min, with the noon sun at about 15°. Triple glazing keeps more heat in during those long, dark months; big south and west windows may suit solar-control glass for summer.

Rules for fixed and picture windows in England
In England, replacement windows must meet 1.4 W/m²K, or a Window Energy Rating of band B or better. Replacement windows are a controlled fitting. A competent person scheme installer (such as FENSA or Certass) self-certifies the work and notifies the council within 30 days; otherwise a building control body approves it.
Planning: Replacing windows on a house is normally permitted development if the new ones look similar. New upper-floor windows in a side wall must be obscure glazed and fixed, or open only above 1.7 m. Flats and maisonettes have no householder permitted development rights, so a change that alters their appearance needs planning permission. An Article 4 direction in a conservation area may mean permission is needed, and listed buildings need listed building consent.
How it works
The surveyor measures every opening, checks ventilation, escape windows and safety-glass zones, and talks through styles. Your written quote lists each item with its glass build-up and U-value, and the price is fixed for that specification.
- Every opening measured, including escape and vent needs
- Frames rated for the weight of triple glass
- Old windows removed and taken away
- Each opening closed up the same day
Questions from Sandhurst
Is a picture window worth triple glazing?
Big panes lose a lot of heat and can feel cold to sit near. Triple glazing keeps the inner pane warmer, which makes the space by the window more comfortable.
Can a fixed window be the escape window?
No. An escape window must open. We keep or add an opening window where one is needed.
How long does it take to get triple glazed fixed and picture windows fitted in Sandhurst?
After the survey, typical manufacture time is 4 to 8 weeks, and most homes are fitted in 1 to 4 days.
Do you fit triple glazed fixed and picture windows in Sandhurst?
Yes. We arrange surveys and fitting in Sandhurst and across Berkshire. Send your postcode and the windows or doors you want replaced, and we will book a free survey.
