Winter light and glass choice in Perth
Winter days in Perth are short: about 6 h 51 min of daylight on 21 December, with the sun peaking near 10°. That low angle reaches deep into south-facing rooms, so we match the glass to each elevation rather than using one spec for the whole house.

Rules for Passivhaus and EnerPHit in Scotland
Scotland requires replacement windows to achieve 1.6 W/m²K, which good triple glazing passes comfortably. Replacing a window or door, frame and all, does not need a building warrant, but the work must still meet the building standards.
Before ordering: Since May 2024, replacement windows on houses are widely permitted development, including in many conservation areas, with front elevations expected to match the existing closely; your council tells you if prior notification applies. Flats outside conservation areas generally need permission only if the opening size changes. Listed buildings need listed building consent.
How it works
The surveyor measures every opening, checks ventilation, escape windows and safety-glass zones, and talks through styles. Your written quote lists each item with its glass build-up and U-value, and the price is fixed for that specification.
- Free survey and a written quote fixed for the specification
- Glass build-up and whole-window U-value on every quote
- Written handover pack at the end of the job
- Guarantees on frames, units and fitting in writing
