Triple glazed composite front doors in Ely
From the first measure to the handover pack, we handle triple glazed composite front doors for homes in Ely and the rest of Cambridgeshire.
A warmer hallway: triple glass where front doors lose most heat. A composite front door has a solid insulated core, usually timber or foam, under a tough glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) skin, with a multi-point lock.
Winter light and glass choice in Ely
On the shortest day, Ely gets about 7 h 40 min of daylight and the midday sun reaches only about 14° above the horizon. Low winter sun means north-facing rooms here gain little solar heat, which is where triple glazing’s lower heat loss helps most.

Rules for composite front doors in England
England sets replacement door limits through Approved Document L (2021 edition, with 2023 amendments): 1.4 W/m²K, or a door set energy rating of band C (more than 60% glazed) or band B (other doors). Replacement external doors fall under the same energy rules: a competent person scheme installer (such as FENSA or Certass) self-certifies the work and notifies the council, or a building control body approves it.
Before ordering: Replacing doors on a house is normally permitted development if the new ones look similar. Flats need planning permission for a change that alters their appearance, an Article 4 direction may mean permission is needed, and listed buildings need listed building consent.
