Winter light and glass choice in Swansea
On the shortest day, Swansea gets about 7 h 49 min of daylight and the midday sun reaches only about 15° above the horizon. Low winter sun means north-facing rooms here gain little solar heat, which is where triple glazing’s lower heat loss helps most.

Rules for bifold doors in Wales
Wales sets replacement door limits through Approved Document L for Wales (2022 edition, with 2024 amendments): 1.4 W/m²K, or a door set energy rating of band C (more than 60% glazed) or band B (other doors). Replacement external doors fall under the same energy rules as windows: a competent person scheme installer self-certifies the work, or building control approves it.
Planning: Householder permitted development rules do not cover flats, and councils can remove rights with Article 4 directions. Listed buildings need listed building consent. Check with your council before changing the style or material of a front door.
